My cousin is a freshman in high school and he recently got into listening to music. He didn't know anything about music/singers/bands when he was a kid and now he's finally starting to listen/appreciate music more. He said he's kind of lost still on what types of music to listen to but said he is open to all genres. Any genres/bands i should recommend.
this is what i got so far: rap, hip hop, rock, r%26amp;b, heavy metal, nu metal(love it for some odd reason), trance, pop, bhangra(indian music)... any bands/singers?
Music/bands help?

Another good option is to explore the roots of music. A lot of popular bands and genres exist because of influences from bands like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc.
Otherwise,
other genres include
grunge -- Nirvana, Pearl Jam
alternative -- Counting Crows
new age -- Enigma
punk -- Flogging Molly
industrial goth - Odor of Pears
Drum %26amp; Bass - Static Error

another good good idea is go on iTunes and download the weekly freebie.... it usually new bands, from all different genres... Maybe he would find a band he thinks is really cool that no one even knows about yet! Nothing cooler than discovering new music!
