Are elementary specialist music teachers highly regarded in your country ? (not instrumental music t

******** please note: please DON"T answer nonsense or anything weird/abusive, just to get points because I will report you. GENUINE ANSWERS ONLY%26gt; THANKS*******

In Australia (New South Wales, especially), the ed department DOES NOT employ specialist music teachers in primary/elementary schools. They only employ high school music teachers. In fact, according to them, music as a subject 'does not exist' in primary schools. Vert few primary schools have classroom music teachers - those teachers are NOT funded by the ed department. each school has to apply for special funding to pay these teachers if they want music teachers.

I wonder what the situation is like in your country? are music teachers highly regarded there, especially primary/elementary specialist music teachers?

Research shows that music is so important and can help in other learning but yet, it's not given the importance in primary schools. What is your opinion about this, especially if you live in Australia?

thank

In the United States, most elementary schools have a 1x/week music program for their students. Some also have additional music choices such as after-school choir, etc. Our elementary music teachers take a specialized degree in music education, and focus on basic theory and coding, exploration of instruments and genres of music, rhythm skills, and song.

Research has shown the great benefit of music in building student learning skills.

In the U.S. many schools cut out music. A lot of those that do have it, only hire a part time teacher; then they don't have to pay benefits. Report It

I teach instrumental. Music is not highly regarded as a school subject, but in my state, kids have music 2-3 times per week for 30-45 minutes on average. It is one of the first things cut in budget dilemnas.
