Sims music question..?

Can you put your own music from cds into the sims 2 music folder and play it in the game?I heard somewhere you could but I'm not sure.

Also does it have to be downloaded music or can you load it form a cd and can you make it only play your music and not the maxis music if you can how?

Sims music question..?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Copy the cd in mp3 format.

In My Document%26gt;EA Games%26gt;The Sims 2 there is a folder for music. Open it and put the mp3 files into the station folder of your choice.

Open the game.

In the Audio Options section you'll find selections for all the types of music. Go to the section you added your mp3's to and select the new music you added. If you don't want the original game music unselect the game music.

yes you can! my bro did it for me!

so... just look around %26amp; youll find where to do it
i truly dont think it is possible.

Classical music for dummies?

Hello, I need suggestions from people who know and love classical music. The only real classical music exposure I have is when I took a music literature course and I listened to a small sample of a few composers, most of which I could not identify more than two days after listening.

In fast, most of the classical music I have heard had no real appeal or was awefully boring. So I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction.

What I would like to hear most is music that features arpeggios either on piano or guitar, or are good at portraying certain emotions like sadness, more so with actual notes than with instrumentation (ie no violin or droning cello).

Classical music for dummies?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

One of my favourite guitar pieces is Asturias (Leyenda) by Isaac Alb鑼卬iz. There are two or three versions of it available for free here:

http://www.classiccat.net/albeniz_i/47.h...

Don't rule out violin and orchestra just yet.

Listen to Mozart's violin concertos 1 and 3, particularly the andantes (second movements) from both concertos - very beautiful and moving pieces. Pichas Zukerman's versions of Mozarts concertos are very good, and I recommend getting those if it is possible.

Also listen to Saint-Sa姣沶s' Havanaise (Op. 83), another beautiful piece for orchestra featuring the violin.

Classical music for dummies?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

If you're looking for piano music that portrays emotion, I'd go for Polonaise in Ab major by Chopin. You might also want to try Ballade Pour Adeline by Richard Clayderman.
If you are looking for piano music that features arpeggios on piano, try listening to Chopin Etude no.1. Composers such as Rachmaninoff and Chopin are great composers for piano.

There are different kinds of classical music, which varies from eras. There are baroque (Opera "Dido and Aeneas" by Purcell is one of my favourite), classic (Requiem by Mozart is specially sad, as it is written while he was fighting with his death), romantic (Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky etc.) and modern (Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Shostakovich etc.). There are also contemporary living composers such as John Adams, Steve Reich and Philip Glass who have written film scores and famous for their unique sounds.

I love different kind of music but I must say I am not fixed in one category, I love listening to varieties. I would recommend strongly though listening to music that features solo instruments with orchestras such as Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, Elgar Cello Concerto and Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto no.2. As I play the violin, I would recommend listening also to solo violin sonatas by Eugene Ysaye (Belgian composer/violinist) which is quite astonishing.

I hope I haven't made this too complicated. You need to just try listening to different genres of classical music and in the end, you'll find what you love (I hope). Good Luck.

Im a music student and apparently the money for music "disappeared" and now we have no music for the rest of the year. i dont want to take another elective. none of the music students do. we are willing to fight for it to get it back but we have no "legal" ideas. we had a fundraising group but their money was "lost". MUSIC IS IMPORTANT TO Me because it's the only class i can get an a in. its the only thing im good at at school. its not fair. i need ideas on how to get it back. my principal wont tell us nothin

MY MUSIC CLASS JUST GOT CUT!! Any ideas on how to get it back!?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

I'm not sure why the money is "disappearing" and getting "lost", but maybe you need to reappoint someone to the position in which the money is being kept. You can get a petition signed by students and teachers to keep the class going and take it to the school district. If money has gone missing, go to businesses and ask for donations, and have them help with signing the petition. I'm not sure where your from, but this should help in your journey to getting your music class back. If there are enough signing the petition, it should show the school district that there is something wrong and they need to rethink letting that class go. I would recommend going to the School District office first, they could have the petition papers there and/or paperwork to help you figure out what you can/should do to help bring your class back.

Non-iTunes music won't transfer to Ipod?

Recently I transfered music to my iTunes from CD's I owned. I am able to play the music on my computer through iTunes, but the music won't transfer to my iPod. I'm assuming I have to covert this music to an mp3 but it doesn't seem to be an option when I right click on the music. Am I missing something in iTunes or do I need to download another program to covert this music (if so any program suggestions)? Thanks in advance for your help!

No idea. You dont need a converter because Itunes does everything you need. Make sure your Ipod has the capacity to sync it or its supposed to.

I love music because ____________?

well seeing that we all hang out in the music section ^^

i thought i'd put this Q up.

i'll start: i love music because it is the only thing (imo) that can connect very different people. I believe that music is the universal language.. i mean you can have two rockstars who speak two different languages and they can rock together w/o speaking because they both looove music :)

music is soo important to me and i believe it has so much power. music's my life

~thanks for answering

I love music because ____________?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

i love music because of the emotions behind it. music allows people to connect with one another. listening to people express their emotions with song lets you feel as if you are not alone. you may never meet an artist, but you feel like you know one another better than anyone else, merely because you relate so well to what they are saying in their songs.

I love music because ____________?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

It expresses who I am.
It can inspire
I love music because, it soothes my soul! Some songs relate to my life.....it`s good to know i`m not alone when i`m feeling down!
Freedom of expression

Inspiration

The way it can connect completely different people.

=]
it relaxes me and expresses my style
it's the best way to express my personality and the feelings deep within my soul........and i'm soooo damn good at it....lol
theres always a song out there that u can relate to and u can feel wat the artist is talking about and that someone gets u + its fun 2 listen 2 :P
I love music because: it's my life!! I'd die without it. It's the only thing that helps to keep me sane. If it every ceased to exist then guaranteed I'd have to be locked up in the "looney bin". Music is such an amazing thing.....there always seems to be a song for just about any situation or one that expresses any one of the wide range of human emotions. Incredible I tell ya. I can be in the most horrid mood but still be walking around singing or humming to myself but because of it, eventually the mood brightens %26amp; I'm a lil happier after a while.
I love music because it's the only thing that picks me up when I'm depressed, inspires me, makes me feel that there's still something good in this world, something which is worth living for.
life would be boring/ useless/ colorless/ dull without it. music is life. it also helps you to express your feelings even during the hardest times.
It is a great way to express myself. Being a shy person, it is something I can use to communicate with someone. For example, before my girlfriend and I became a couple, I would use music to "hint" my feelings.

Who's Killing The Music?

REMEMBER WHEN:

: Radio was the drum.....when you listened to hear new music... when radio cuts changed every few months?

: The music was written in the spirit of wonderment?

: The power of music invaded your body making you move from the inside out, making you feel powerful?

: We bought records and went to the show to get closer, to the unadulterated truth, the unadulterated power?

: That one record could change your whole day, inspire you and soothe your wounds?

: When people wanted something real, something they could hang on to, something that could help them through life?

: M usic T ele V ision was ALL about the Music?

: It wasn't just about commercialism, advertising or endorsements?

: Music was more than a revenue generator or more than a name on a list of SoundScan winners?

: It wasn't all about the production or the extravaganza... it was about the MUSIC! and The music was ENOUGH!

Fire away 閳?br>Who's Killing The Music?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

I think you can't just pin it down to one thing,or person,my friend.

There are so many factors involved in it's....death.If it is dying at all.

Music is big business today....bigger than it's ever been.Profit comes first, then talent.

The ease of ANYBODY putting their music out there,by the Internet. And most have mediocre talent at best.

Our perceptions of what you and I call,"good music" also comes into play.I'm a child of the 70's,therefore I love 70's and even 80's music the best.Almost everything after that time seems.....paler somehow...doesn't hold my interest ....doesn't.......touch me inside.

There also could be the,"saturation point".There's so much music out there.Yes,most of it is crap but it takes so damn long to weed through it,you get tired, bored. It all starts sounding the same after a while. That's when I go back to the music I grew up with.....the music that's familiar.

And you mentioned the record(vinyl LP).It was something you could.....hold.I remember hours listening to music as I watched that record turn on my turntable. Now? Kind of hard to hold or watch data on an mp3 player or your computer.

Anyway, music will live on(I hope). In what form ,God only knows.Myself,I'll keep listening to what I like and ignore trends .

Great question,BTW.

RAPPERS...(THAT IS NOT MUSIC)
Video killed the radio star!
pop idol, x factor, and to an extent radio one. but remember all the music that does the aforementioned things to you is still out there and will never die!
I think part of it started with the fusion of entrepreneurship with music - Big artists starting fashion lines, for example.

There's a mass amount of music now, more than ever. But it's all mostly the same, washed up beats. That's probably because -a lot- of people going into the music business now care for the money aspect, instead of the music aspect. Not all, of course, but enough.

It's also partly the fault of the listeners, who will buy into the crappy, regurgitated tunes, due to peer pressure. That ruins the few good bands left. Also, though downloading free music is great, it also doesn't help make things better.

Record labels know that they'll lose money through leaked downloads, so now they won't be brave enough to sign risky deals, that could be great fresh new music. They'll only sign safe ones, creating a general decrease in quality.

It's a mix of everyone involved really.
the music died a long time ago sweet cheeks!!!! it was murdered by EMO!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
No NO That is how YOU and most people thought of music but you have grown up a bit since then. Now you realize that music is not now and has never been about all those glorious things we thought years ago. it is and has always been about MONEY. Cuba Gooding, Jr. said Show me the money. That is true in music as well. MTV is only around to make money. Nothing wrong with that but as we get older we realize that is what life is all about. Why would a man or woman spend millions to get a job that only pays a few hundred thousand dollars. Because it really means much more MONEY down the road.
Music will always change, evolve and move....you have to be able to evolve with it. No one is killing music, yes it might be a little over commercialized at times but it has always been like that. There are plenty of bands that are not on MTV that write great music, you have to search. I come from a family of musicians, my father and I both play guitar. When he told me that today's music sucks, I told him he sounds like his old man, and that he is not listening. Don't miss out on what this generation is experiencing and expressing because of an unwillingness to listen with an open ear. Don't be like my Grandfather.
Rap/hip hop, the media, and rich, talentless girls with publicity agents *cough* britney, paris *cough*. Rap isn't music, hip hop is just "pretty" girls dancing around singing with completley teched up music. Same applies to the rich and talentless girls with publicity agents. Yes, if I could blame the death of awesome radio earned by great musicians with true talent, I'd blame it on rap/hip hop, the media, and talentless rich girls!

Bring back the rock!!! Rock of any age is better than all of that crap.
I see alot of ppl saying "rappers" their not destroying it, their simply jus not making it anymore, in rap music its all about the beat screw the words that is the music of rap, now their lyrics...their lyrics are some bs, rap was the 70s-late 90s, thats music today, they should label it as bullshi-
the corporation or capitalism people are in it for the money and the fame there all about a sound not a song they try and shock to get record deals money is the root of all evil money can make a man act funny
RAP: Retards Attempting Poetry..

It's just a personal opinion and I'm NOT trying to offend anyone who's into rap!! Cleaaaar?

basically, making money off of music is what kills the music.
I suppose you can ultimately blame it on "superstrings", who have, for some time now, been mostly resonating in the narrow frequencies of money-hungry superficiality and obsessive dysfunctional desire for fame. :-)

Generally speaking, I agree with you - They don't make music like they used to - with a burning passion that comes from the core. ... And NO, I am NOT saying that music should remain static and resist/question all change. ... I am talking about The Over-commercialization of Creativity [and hence the empty motives] behind the musical "creations" of the nowadays.

.

.

Thanks for the GREAT QUESTION - your genuine love of MUSIC is quite evident.

.

.
I believe that in a major way, it is a result of the digital revolution. There is nothing that can match the analog medium for true rendition of live sound. Vinyl gave us the musicality that is the quintessential nature of sound.

No matter how advanced in quality is cd, there is an element of full range frequencies that is missing - the musical fullness, the emotion, the hearing that is part of live music is simply not there in today's recorded medium. For some, such as myself, it is as noticeable as the difference between air and a vacuum. Though many today have never even heard music recorded in analog. I think, in general, it has set up a cycle whereby the sound, or rather what is missing, has created a degeneration in perception of music. This deadness produces a vicious cycle whereby music takes on all the baggage that we see today.

Of course, there is also that given opportunity, humankind allows materialism and sensationalism to rule. People want more and more stimulation. If music is not music, then the more noise, the more people feel like their lives are filled by as much stimulation as they can get; the riot of commercialism fills that need.

Classic Country Music Lovers?

This is the letter that I sent to Yahoo/Answers in regards to having a sub-category in country music. Tell me what you think and if you support this idea. Thanks

Hello:

I hope that this question is not misdirected and that I can receive an answer to it. I am wondering if Yahoo/Answers would consider opening a sub-category in entertainment-music-country? The current category leaves a lot to be desired insofar as being able to sift through the different questions. There is a distinct difference in today's so-called country music and what we lovers of the classic country music consider real genuine country music.

There are several of us that use Yahoo answers to try and educate others and inform them concerning what classic country music is all about. We have even discussed getting a petition together with names to present to you nice folks when asking for the sub-category I have mentioned previously.

Please let me know if this is even remotely possible as many of us are anxiously awaiting your answer.

I am right there with you. Add my name and if you need help just holler.
There are other categories I recommend, such as Hindu, Filipino and Korean music, and separating R%26amp;B from Rap, plus separating Classic Rock, Metal and Pop.

But Classic and New Country are also too close together, and require separate attention. I would make it a Classic Country and Bluegrass section, as our roots are intertwined.

Put my name on that list with all my Y!A points from the music category.
Great idea !

Does music enhance emotions?

It has always felt strange to me that. I feel a little depressed, and I pop in Pink Floyd's "The Wall," and the height of my emotion rises to its fullest. Making my head spin and the emotion fill my brain. It intrigues me, that music has such a positive/negative effect. And I wanna know how you feel when you listen to a certain type of music with a certain emotion.

When I listen to something upbeat and energetic it sort of alters my emotion to a bit more optimistic feel, and a more pleasurable experience. But, another question is, does music unleash your true emotion? Or do the beautiful sound of music that enters are ears just sort of trick our minds into thinking, feeling, and reacting differently? Its almost as if it was a drug, certain genres and different songs have different mind-altering affects. What are your thoughts on this? Do you feel the same? Do you feel different when listening to music? Do you feel influenced? Does your mood change? Share with me.

Help with Flash music repeating?!?

i am making an animation with flash mx 2004 and i have music playing throughout the animation. I have a simple preloader at the beginning of the animation. At the end of the clip, i have the music continuing until the person closes the window. I placed a button at the end of the the clip so that it replays the movie when you clip on it (skipping the preloader of course).

I want the music to stop playing when the replay button at the end is clicked so i put the following action script on the button:

on (release) {gotoAndPlay(4);

}

on (release) {stopAllSounds();

}

After i put that in, the animation still repeats but the music stops and doesn't start again. The music starts on frame 5, the preloader ends on frame 3. If I make the replay action script to lok like this:

on (release) {gotoAndPlay(4);

}

then the music from the first time it was played continues and overlaps with the music from the second time around.

Help with Flash music repeating?!?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

I'm not a Flash expert, but here is a suggestion.

Move your preloader to a separate scene. Access the scene menu from Window %26gt; Other Panals %26gt; Scenes. Use the + to add another scene, name it "Preloader" and make sure it's on top of the rest of your movie. This way, you can tell the music to stop when the preloader stops playing and there should be no overlap.

What is the difference between American and Iranian music? What do you think?

Hi.I am from Iran.I have thought about the difference between American and Iranian music and I have found a noticable difference. When I listen to American music it makes me do wierd things like shaking my head up and down or doing sporting movements.I suppose anybody els would do it.however I know that it depends on the music style.Maybe I mainly mean pop American and pop Iranian music.but when I listen to Iranian music it actually makes me dance not in a crazy form.I don't mean to be selfish.I think both of them are enjoyable.I would listen to Iranian music on "pmc" and "tapesh" channels. But for American music I would choose "gay.tv" because musics which this channel plays makes me feel relief. However I like pop musics by vengaboys , modern talking , cher and Jenniferlopez the best although they might be old.You don't need to know what a song says to enjoy it. all you have to do is to enjoy it's tone and music.Right?Just like us.Most of the Iranians don't understand English but they enjoy American music.I would sugest you to listen.Have you ever listened to Iranian music(not old-fashioned ones)? If so, did you like it?

yeah, I'm sure you can. once you've restored the computer as well as the ipod, itunes will detect the missing songs (that were purchased on itunes) and ask you if you'd like to add them back to the library. that happens to me when I delete my purchased items...the next I synced my ipod, it asked me that same questions.

you can call you local apple store for more info on how to get them back.

other than itunes purchased songs, like songs you downloaded from other places, other than getting the songs from cds, well those are gone UNLESS you've back them up in another hard drive. sorry about those.

hope I helped.

All the music that you purchased from will be saved under the same account. Just when you install itunes on a different machine authorize the computer and then you will see all you prior purchases from the store.

Make sure the sync option is set to sync and not to overwrite one way or the other. Then it is going to just sync.

The beauty of classical music?

Am I the only one who thinks that classical music is far more beautiful and entertaining than today's music? Nowadays anyone can just go and write a song, but before all this technology came along only people with real talent could write music. I think that people are really be gipped today because of the lack of being exposed to such wonderful music. Music of today is only written for money and commercialism. I think if the general population really learned and heard the music of composer's like Beethoven and Mozart, the music industry would be out of business. Why would anyone want to listen to Maroon 5 and Britney Spears whine when you can hear a gorgeous symphony by Mozart?

By the way i'm a 20 year old girl, not some old "fogey" or something. Most people think classical music is only meant for old people and that it isnt "cool"

The beauty of classical music?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

a great question with no easy answers...

classical music is indeed an art...and as such, has to be listened to and not listened at (if you get my meanin')...and in this age of ever-shortenin' attention spans and instant gratification; many people are just too darn lazy to study and learn to appreciate classical music...

also...the lack of exposure is a problem...i mean, other than public radio and television there really is no true outlet for classical music nowadays...even when i came of age back in the 1970s, i had to listen and teach myself how to appreciate classical music (had to do the same with jazz as well)...

anyways...i have learned to overlook people who diss classical music ("forgive them ...for they know not what they speak of") and continue to enjoy listenin' to it...

and god bless you, kiddo, for havin' intelligent musical tastes and for tryin' to get the message out to the masses...

The beauty of classical music?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

I am 17 years old, and would rather listen to Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, or Bach any day! I've been playing the flute for ten years now, and believe that is what has shown me the untimely beauty of classical music.

It makes me sad to think that these days, nobody can actually HEAR the beauty in classical music. God, how each note matters so much and is so critical to the music. It's so beautiful to me.

Mozart is my hero, and I can't imagine not listening to classical music, no matter my age. :) It's good to know I'm not the only young person who enjoys classical music so much.
I hear your pain. I'm a classical guitarist, am early 30s and have been playing for 30 years. I've also been teaching for 10 years. I teach a Music Appreciation Class at a community college and I try to make the class as fun as possible. I usually play the greatest hits and will say 'You know, this piece should sound familiar, did you see this movie?' and their faces light up w/recognition. I get a lot of 'I didn't know that was classical music!'

I feel so happy when an entire class of students leave the semester more enchanted w/classical music (even modern 20th C music). They have to attend a concert %26amp; of course I get so many groans. But, in the end they ALL end up pleasantly surprised and disappointed that the concert ended.

Honestly, I get so frustrated about how much I get paid for concerts. All that work, even $1000 for a concerto is nothing compared to the millions rappers/rock artists/pop singers make. And the work put into learning a concerto or 1 hour's worth of classical music is huge!!

I rant to my husband and he always says 'the mass is not really educated.' The music industry gives what the masses want: crappy, half naked, loud, 'music.'

I think if the mass were introduced to music from early on in their childhood, there would be more of an appreciation for classical music. Unfortunately, classical music education is not part of the schooling system. Until that changes, you will get people responding to classical music w/negativity.

Oh, a personal side note: the best is when I tell people I play classical guitar and they respond 'Like Esteban?' sigh.

So, you're not alone in your frustration. Just be patient and do your best at educating other young adults. Bring them to concerts w/you or play a classical cd in the background while hanging out. Anything subtle you can do to bring people to your side is good. But, never throw it in their faces or belittle them if they listen to pop or rap. Better to gently introduce people to classical music than to force them.
I think the reason for this would be because classical music is an acquired taste.

In my opinion, classical music usually requires maturity from the listener. =)

In addition, as someone who has been playing piano for over ten years, I feel that I am able to appreciate classical music even more because I understand how hard it is to pull off a good performace, or even just to play a simple tune with the appropriate musical style.
Classical music to me is one of the closest things to magic we have on earth, it sounds corny, But consider this,,, Just one note hit right on the violin can evoke so much emotion and feeling. It can bring back memories, tell stories without words, most of the classical music that I enjoy has a very ethereal feel to it.
You ask: "Am I the only one who thinks that classical music is far more beautiful and entertaining than today's music?"

No, I think you are not. I personally like "classical" (Wrong word b.t.w. classical music is only part of the 18th cent.) music much more then pop music. I'm now 41 years old and this is as long as I can remember. When I had my 12th birthday, I bought a ABBA record, just because I didn't have any popmusic and wanted to invite some classmates. I then learned that popmusic is not only diffirent music but also a different culture. You don't just listen to popmusic, you dance on it sing along with it etc. Most of these things, you don't do with classical music.

I think the question should't be: "is classical music far more beautiful and entertaining than today's music?" but "Isn't there an enormous amount of bad 'put together' music" (I wouldn't describe this as composing)

Not all popmusic is bad, but indeed, anyone can write something. Success doesn't depend on quality, but on marketing.

When I listen to older popsongs, then there is really good music with it. But even then one shouldn't compare it with classical music.

I very much agrea with hartwell, in fact she says almost the same as I did in another answer. I won't repeat it, because it would make this answer a lot longer. You can find it here (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... ) if you want to read it.

Keep enjoying classical music, and even better, help spreading it. Not by building walls, but by building bridges.

Only this way we can be sure that Classical music is being played and enjoyed by a slinking group of relatively old people.

Edward
Ah, YES I see your point. And many guitar players today just turn up the distortion and rip out crap, while MOST kids your age are listening to it, saying Beethoven and such are boring. They have no clue of the extreme talent and excitement that this music brings and do not appreciate it. On the same lines, there is a whole lot of GOOD, exciting music out there today that's just as good if not better. Yes, if you start sifting your way through the crap, occasionally you'll find a gem. Classical music is soothing to my soul and I love playing the stringed instruments I play or just listening to it, but at the same time, I enjoy the PUMP from rock n roll. It's not all bad and jazz is every bit as good, as is country etc.,etc., Do yourself a favor, keep the classical music, it's fantastic, but don't have blinders to other types of music, you're only cheating yourself. IT'S ALL GOOD!!
If you like math you'll love Bach. !His music is almost "mathematical." an a joy to listen to.

And do you realize "The Ring" does not use one single instrument that has to be plugged in?

I'm with you, but I'm sure you realize Mahler is a test of endurance of a music lover's bladder.

PS Have tickets for Andre Reiu Wed night. He's a good intro to classical music for thosewho haven't experienced the joy of it.

World music...?

Why do so many people seem to find music that is outside of their comfort zone "weird". I used to be into mainstream music, however as i got older I realized that mainstream music just was dull and uninteresting, if it was made after a certain point (early to mid-nineties, with very few exceptions). That is when I decided to look outside what we hear everyday. I deiscovered a whole treasure in world music! Ayub Ogada, Goeffrey Oryema, Huun Huur Tu, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, I could go on and on! when I try and play any of this for my wife , she looks at me funny and tells me I'm weird. If any of you are tired of what you hear on the radio or on television, go looking... you'll find some of the best music you've never heard.

World music...?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Not sure you're really looking for an answer - a rhetorical question? - but I've always wondered the same thing. I've been really into music since I was a kid, and I enjoy almost everything, or at least some of everything. Classical, folk, some jazz, some rock

The recent interest in "world music" is wonderful, and I've been listening to The Weavers and Folkway recordings since the early 50s. Music from other cultures allows us to speak to each other without knowing each other's languages. It's international and cuts across many of the things that separate us today. It lets us see how much we really have in common/

Guess I'm a hopeless idealist, but I can imagine people coming together in peace and music.

Transferring music from PC to Razor V3m?

I have a razor phone from sprint and i am having trouble sending current music on my pc to the phone as a an mp3. the phone is mp3 capable. The phone came with an sdmicro card and adapter which you have to connect then put the card in a slot on your pc. I am using the same logic like i use with my thumbdrive or mp3 player. The computer does indicate if it detects a new hardware. Then I opened my computer and the name of the new hardware appears which is the card. In the drive there are 3 folders and they are music, dcim, and motorola. I obviously went into the music folder. Now in the phone when you run the app to find the music it says the in order to get the tracks you have to send it to an AllMyMusic folder. Now after opening the music folder from the card and it has the AllMyMusic in there, but here's the problem instead of AllMyMusic being in a folder the icon is Windows Media player icon. I tried everything and cannot figure out what is wrong. Send feedbakc

Good Luck!

Has rap music experienced a "Golden Age" yet?

I was just thinking about music I have enjoyed throughout my life. I have liked almost every kind of music at one point or another, rap included. The question, though, is has rap music changed significantly throughout the years? Look at rock music. It went from stuff like "Rock Around the Clock", to Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, and so on. It also brought forth so many different sub-genres like metal, acid, techno, punk, etc.

Is rap stagnant? If so, why do you think so? This isn't a racial issue: rap crosses racial boundaries and other music considered to be "black" music has not been so stagnant, such as R%26amp;B, the Blues, and Jazz.

Is it a lack of creativity or is it simply such a pure form of expression that it doesn't need to evolve?

Has rap music experienced a "Golden Age" yet?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

i would characterize today's rap music in one word - decadence. for a time in the early 90's, rap was at its creative peak, exploring issues such as race, politics, police, partys, the future...intelligent issues. nowadays, it's all about hos, smackin' dat, money, and only disconnects itself from the reality of life most rap fans face. i mean, what average rap cd-buyer can relate to some iced-out thug driving a bentley, wearing full-on burberry? personally, i think rap should have a lot to say about today's world, what with the war in iraq, the ruins of new orleans, the rich getting richer while the poor get poorer, but it's too concerned with materialistic things.

if you were to label the golden age of rap in progressive terms, i'd say the golden age of rap has already passed (it being in the early 90's). our current 'stage' of rap is probably most akin to the excess-laden 70's arena rock period.

it's kind of sad, really - and i know there's lots of underground rappers doing great things...but the face of rap today is too narcissistic to care about what's going on in the world. if all you can express is degrading women, getting your swerve on, and how expensive your possessions are, then rap has truly passed its point of being relevant.

Lack of creativity.
Lack of creativity, Gangsta rap is POP Now, so when britney and all the other little blonde girls came out.

the only differnce is Thug copycats came out in RAP

more guns, more drugs to the point, they don't even describe where they came from anymore. You think rappers today give an accurate picture of the hood , NO WAY

They just go staright to gangsta rappin, there is no balance anymore there was Krs one, d-nice, a tribe called quest to go with Too short, Ice -T and NWA but now it's all one sided

Hip-Hop has many sides to it theres soul, club, rock/rap, battle, underground, neo, gangsta

Hip Hop/ rap golden age past. Before there were rhymes MCs now it's like a beat and they are straight saying nothing.

I have to make sure a rapper is an artist before I can start "buy" (dl) their albums.

Rap is stagnant thats why we will hit 40 year old rappers cause these new dudes suck, but that's because Gangsta rap is played all day.
The golden age of rap was inthe late 80's and early 90's. Unfortunately now it is all garbage. Nobody is saying anytihgn anymore except ridiculous crap about pimpin', expensive cars, getting drunk, and trashy women.

I think rap should be removed from our culture now. It is completely irrelevant to normal society, and it only glorifies, and contributes to it's bad side anymore.
The golden age was around the time of Biggie, 2pac, when Wu Tang clan was together, early Jay-Z, Nas, early Snoop. After that, its kinda gone down hill, but there are some good artists and songs out there. But nothing like the early 90s, to me thats when rap was at its best.
Rap goes back much farther them many people think.

Even Jimi Hendrix took a shot at it but that track was

not released until the late 90's (Dorella Du Fontaine)

The first "commercial" rap song was not really even

rap but Blondie is credited with it for the song

"Rapture" which had a rapping section.

Personally, I think Aerosmith did a fair amount

of rapping before rap became mainstream.

Run DMC recognized this and I'll bet that's why

they did "Walk This Way" back in the early days

of rap.

I'm not a fan of rap but it sure seems to me that

it has evolved over the last 25 years.
Rap had its golden age in the late 80's / early 90's. Now Rap and R%26amp;B are just variations on the same old same old Pop music. Nothing really original has come on the scene in a good ten to fifteen years,

You could arguably date the end of Rap's Golden Age from the rise of Babyface, but that really gives Babyface more blame for turning Rap into "Another type of Pop" than he really deserves. He's a symptom of the problem, not the cause.

Music/bands help?

My cousin is a freshman in high school and he recently got into listening to music. He didn't know anything about music/singers/bands when he was a kid and now he's finally starting to listen/appreciate music more. He said he's kind of lost still on what types of music to listen to but said he is open to all genres. Any genres/bands i should recommend.

this is what i got so far: rap, hip hop, rock, r%26amp;b, heavy metal, nu metal(love it for some odd reason), trance, pop, bhangra(indian music)... any bands/singers?

Another good option is to explore the roots of music. A lot of popular bands and genres exist because of influences from bands like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc.

Otherwise,

other genres include

grunge -- Nirvana, Pearl Jam

alternative -- Counting Crows

new age -- Enigma

punk -- Flogging Molly

industrial goth - Odor of Pears

Drum %26amp; Bass - Static Error

Is rap music becomming ignorant now?

Those who actually listened to past rap and hip hop music...do you think today's rap music is becomming just so stupid?? I mean in the past the music actually had some meaning to it..like some messages. Now, most rap and hip hop artist talk about how much money they got, what they buy wit that money, sleeping with women, etc. I mean, a lil bit of the music is alright..but it sounds the same now. I only listen to R%26amp;B now.

What ya'll think?

And please...if you don't like rap or hip hop...don't come on here complaining that the music is stupid nd it should be banned...i want REAL opinions what people think of Rap and most Hip Hop music from 2000 to the present.

Thanks

Is rap music becomming ignorant now?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

I can remember the word my dad used to described the rock and roll i was listening to when it was important to me, before every band started sounding the same, "suggestive", and that was a light weight assessment compared to what Rap has evolved or "morphed" into.

I remember when hearing Hip Hop %26amp; Rap i first thought, Wow, and then the thugs took it over and in the name of free speech changed it to nothing more than sounds with an "Explicit Lyrics Label".

What happened to the creativity and the beautiful backup singers and the wonderful orchestrations and the standards that Motown and Soul Music had set. Now a days any 12 year old with a simple music editing program, a collection of the same old loops and lyrics filled with filth and violence, can be a millionaire.

Did anyone catch Rev. AL Sharpton's eloquint speech at the late great James Brown's funeral, where he called on Michael Jackson and all the others to lift the music back up to where it used to be, where grandmothers and their grandchildren can sit and listen to it together. A most profound statement.

Ignorant? Stupid? maybe. Redundant at best and contraversial for sure.

IMO.

Is rap music becomming ignorant now?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

Rap used to be original. The first songs, and even the first decade of songs, had great topics. Now, over the past 5 years or so, it's all about the video, and how much bling you can get. In the rock world, that's called being a sell-out. So few of these have a true talent. And if it wasn't for the mixing and sampling, they'd probably have no career.
I don't like it, but I respect people's opinions.

but that is exactly why I don't like rap anymore, I like meaningful lyrics. Now, they can get away with singing any lyrics, but if it's sung by someone popular and it's played over and over, it's a hit. It doesn't make sense... and I don't think it should be banned, i just think they could put a lot more thought and talent in making their music, but they know everyone is going to listen to it either way. It makes me feel like they're only in it for the money and the fame. Some of these people are talented, but they just waste it... and the gramar is killing me!
Rap/Hip Hop had a period pf creativity at its inception (i'm talking the Kurtis Blow/Fab 5 days), and then it had an interesting revival with stuff like Arrested Develpment, Diggable Planets, De La Soul, to a lesser extent Tribe Called Quest......and then it officially died with P Dangy or whatever his name is now.

Whatever was creative about it died ages ago...it's just bass driven crap. And the so called messages you're talking about usually strike me as pretentious dribblings from ignorant thugs. Call me crazy, but the I'm from the streets and the I'm the best MC ever crap got old around 1988.
I agree...I listen to a lot of different music, but I remember in the 90's rap and hip hop, you could actually understand what they were rapping about, and different artists would rap about different things. I love LL Cool J, he always has a message in his songs and he rarely swears. Nowadays, you hear rap and hip hop on the radio from new artists..It's crazy, most of the time you hear a lot of swearing, money, sleeping around...it's bad, and almost every song that comes out is just like that. I'm not saying all, but the majority of it is.
ya it is becoming stupid but i like 2 listen 2 it just for fun. rap and r%26amp;b are the only types of music i listen to
yes, i believe so.

as you said, now people are only rapping about how much money they have and how much sex they get and their grillz and pimpin whereas early rap was much more message based.

by message based, i mean that they were angry at the government (and other issues affecting society at the time) and wanted their opinions heard and action to be taken. this is very similar to early punk music as well.

like much punk music today, rap has fallen away from that even though there is still much anger at the government (and other issues affecting the society).

the wording of your question is excellent because even if a person does not listen to the news, they could get what was going on in the world through music, and now - because there is none of that left - people are becoming ignorant of the world around them.

so, yes, rap is becoming ignorant.

not only that, but it has also been becoming more ignorant as singles come out...

and the sad thing is that if anybody tries to bring back the old rap style they would be outcasted because they're not rapping about petty conceited issues. they're rapping about problems that afflict the world but nobody wants to listen because they fear knowledge.

hopefully you enjoy my insight.
well, yea, i agree with you. it is kind of stupid....i never understood it.
Well..most of the rap you hear on the radio is.But unheard songs from cds or whatever is still good. Some rap is becoming ignorant, some isn't.For example,D4L, great artists, great lyrics.Dem Franchize Boys...if you listen to their cds, they make songs from a lyric or 2 from another song. For example, the song with Monica, that song title/lyrics came from lean wit it rock wit it.Some don't need to be played. Some should. Not all rap has become ignorant.Bur rappers that try to hard and talk about what they got and they grillz, make it ignorant.**Hope this helps!!I put a lot of thought in to it!!Please rate my answer as best!!THanx!!**
wow after i read that i realized just much it has changed. it used to be about like surivin in da ghetto and stuff like dat now its about everything you said.
I listened to it in the early 90s a little (I'm talking hardcore, I still listen to the pop rap on top 40 radio).. maybe not to the extent as others. The rap music I have issues with right now is those that are not creative in anyway but just someone else making money on the same beats with a little different lyrics about how rough life was , how much money they have ..(yawn) Some of what is coming out isn't even creative anymore .. with even the lyrics... I find that when it's creative, I tend to listen.. but some of this stuff coming out especially in the US south... retread 2000-2007

I think personally you can take say 3 rappers, take snippets out of their albums put it to a generic beat and be in top 10 on i-tunes without any them being in the studio anymore.
I say mainstream rap music has gotten a lot more ignorant, especially within the last 5 years or so, but it started around '95 (personally, I think the beginning of rap music's decline directly coincides with the moment Master P came onto the scene, but that's just me). Since then, the mainstream media has been increasingly oversaturated by a lot of cookie-cutter emcees (if we can even call them emcees) and candy rappers who spout garbage because right now, they're the ones bringing their record companies the most money. Some, like me, might be old enough to remember this and some might not be, but back in the late 80's and early to mid 90's there was a lot of talent, variety and substance in rap. You could turn on the radio and hear conscious (as in socially/politically conscious), gangsta, old-school, jazz-infused, comical and storytelling styles of rap back to back in one sitting (or one car trip). THAT is what's sorely lacking in mainstream rap right now - talent, variety and substance. There's nothing to choose from anymore, kinda like going to McDonald's and seeing nothing but fries on the overhead menu.

There are still some good emcees out there who don't fit the "cookie-cutter" mold and have something positive to say, but unfortunately we rarely (if ever) see them in the mainstream media. A lot of the real emcees have been put on the backburner or are stuck in the underground circuit because for the most part, greedy record companies and good ol' Corporate America have flooded the market with whatever "trend du jour" makes them the most money (which, unfortunately, glorifies the negative/controversial). It's sad, but for the most part, neither the record companies nor the rappers do it for the love of the music anymore. It's all about that almighty dollar.

Good thing I was introduced to underground hip hop some years back. Otherwise, I'd still be sittin' here with "Midnight Marauders" on repeat, reminiscing about the good ol' days - lol.

My favorite is a program called Audio Grabber.

It has lots of capabilities

It contacts an on line database to fill in your MP3 headers so the correct information displays on you MP3 player

It normalizes CD tracks to compensate for volume inconsistencies

You can select from numerous bit rates, including variable bit rates

It doesn't require a Cray computer with Terabytes of RAM, it runs just fine on my Pentium 3.

And it's freeware.

Recordings of choral music are not easy to find. A lot of the time you have to special-order them from the publisher. If you know of any other local choirs who are doing recordings of the material they sing, you might want to check those out, but don't count on there being much overlap between what they're doing and what your choir is doing. A cheaper method, albeit a much more time-consuming one, would be to enter the music note-by-note into a music notation program such as Musicator, Cakewalk or Sibelius and then play it back. This has the advantage that you can use the resultant file to create part-specific recordings for each section. That's what I did when I worked with a community choir a couple of years back.

How does music make you feel? what type of music? why?

I love to listen and dance to progressive house music. What this music does to me is just incredible and i don't know how to explain it. Like, why doesn't heavy metal or classic music do the same effect in my brain? At the end its all music right so why isnt it the same? By the way whoever listens to progressive house should go to media player, internet radio, do the keysearch to dance and scroll down to 123party.fm progressive house. Just because you play certain types of music doesnt mean you feel that way, music is an exspression of love, hope passion pleasure, it comes from the music
Certain jazz songs sends me in a meditative state The two that does that to me is both Herbie Hancock's songs. Maybe because he is a Buddhist, i don't know. The songs are:

If I'm really down I can go and listen to Metallica REALLY loud and it always makes me feel better. It's like therapy :)
I love dance music!!! maybe cause i'm addicted to clubbing !! dance music is the best for getting me out of a bad mood or just when your happy and in a good music something to sing along to!!!! =)
if i'm in a relaxed chilling mood i'll listen to staind, when i'm excitied or mad i'll listen to disturbed or bullet for my valentine, when i'm just in between i'll listen to older staind or godsmack
I listen to metal heavily, to be quite honest it has quite a cathartic effect on me, it literally drains the rage out of me. I listen to alot of other stuff including hard house, industrial like Combichrist, Wumpscut, and some others and they pretty much either relax me or put me in a very rebellious mood. To get back to your other question, the reason why all music should not be the same is b/c we live in a society of varied tastes, everybody has their own musical schtick.

Zen 4gb Music player with Itunes?

Warning: This question is not for the lazy.

I just bought my new Creative Zen mp3 player (4GB) I can't load the Software it came with yet because my dad is away for the weekend and he can only sign on and load it on his account. I used to have a ipod and I have a full library of music I would like to transfer to this new Zen. The thing is I don't know how. On my other computer which has Windows Vista I was able to load the 10 songs I had on there. I didn't load the Zen Software and I was still able to load Itunes music on it. But for some reason on this computor which has Windows XP, I can't load the songs. Here is what I have done..

1.Went to start button, hit explore, clicked on my user account, went to music, clicked on Itunes Music

2. Plugged in Zen

3. Zen is now named after me and I can see the music file

4. Transfer by dragging the music from my Itunes Library into the Music Library on my Zen.

5. Unplug Zen after music is done loading.

6. Look for music NOT THERE!

Music theory - not coping very well :(?

Its so hard to comprehend music theory, and the music i'm interested in music theory crazy ! I want to write fugues, and polyphonal works, and i'm just starting to get counterpoint, but fugue writing is nearly impossible! The rules have to be at least the size of a bible! Basic things like intervals confuse me, because music notation really agitates the crap out of me and i feel like im getting no where! How should i approach my music composition? Should i focus on less harder forms than a fugue? I can't afford a music teacher, and im sure as hell paying for it! (if you know what i mean). Any advice with music composition would be great!

Music theory - not coping very well :(?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Because fugue writing is the next stage on from counterpoint you would be wise to master the art of counterpoint and to fully understand it. JS Bach did not write to rules - only styles of writing - it is the study of his work which has put rules in place. I suggest that you learn harmony from Bach's Chorales of which you also need knowledge in order to grasp counterpoint.

It makes me laugh how people are basing rap music because of the message it's giving people when rock music is doing that to! Honestly look at how rock music influnces the people who listen to it! The weird hair stlyes, the dying of the hair and pericings and tattos all over your body, the drinking and smoking!!! Not only does rap music have an influnces on people but so does this dumbshit as noise called "music"!

SO THERE YOU HATERS OF THE GHETTO MUSIC!!!

Rock Music!!!Who hates this dumb noise that people call "music???"?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Rap music sucks *ss. Metal at least lets people vent in a healthy way instead of shooting and beating people. Rap music is just a beat and it doesn't matter what lyrics are placed around it. It all sounds the same. And it is all *hitty.

Love rock. Like most music.

it all depends on what you grew up with.
all music in one way or another influences everybody but i like heavy metal eveyone has there own taste on music you shouldnt judge others by the taste of music they like
Try actually listening to some. Yeah, there's a lot of what you're talking about out there. But there are groups like System of A Down that has a real message. They're totally against war...

Also the word "Rap" means "To Talk" so to call it music is an oxymoron!!!

Being Ghetto is NOT a badge of honor...it's simply a declaration of IGNORANCE!
Your post makes absolutely no sense.

You need to study the history of rock and roll music to know anything about it.

Rock music is always evolving, taking something from all forms of music.

You can like a form of music and don't have to practice the "lifestyle" that they talk about in the music they play.
I love hvy metal and rock music

*Reported*
I don't HATE rock, but I TOTALLY dislike it....
You need to relax.

People that are easily influenced by any type on music really have no susbatance to begin with and clearly have no right to defame any genre of music.

Hip-hop, Rock, whatever the music is....it's just entertainment.

Relax!
ya know at least theres a tune!

there is a different sound to every

band and you can understand the

words!(unless its all emo screamo)

but with rap you cant tell what they are

sayin... every song is identical... and

the music videos degrade women!

all you see are two chiks humping eachother

for guy attention!
WHAT???

If you don't like rock music, that's your prerogative. To each his/her own. That's why there is different genre's of music. There is good %26amp; bad in every style of "music" whether it is rock, pop, ghetto, punk, country, etc...

You need to grow up and learn to appreciate all music... you don't have to like it, but appreciate it and be open minded to what different sounds bring to the table.
Ok...this may go long, but I gotta

I've been listening to rock music for as long as I can remember, and I have to agree that some of the **** that is passing as rock music these days needs to be buried under 20 feet of earth, capped off with cement, and never allowed to see the light of day again.

But you cannot completely dismiss this type of music, as it has influenced more rap artists than you may be aware. Take a good hard listen to some of the more famous rap and R%26amp;B songs that have had major radio play over the last decade. I'll bet you don't even realize that a lot of these songs have sampled some famous Rock guitar riffs as their background beats. I will admit my ignorance by saying I do not know the name to 99% of these songs, but I can tell you that I have heard samples from such great musicians as David Bowie (I believe Puff Daddy used David's "Let's Dance" in a song), Aerosmith (Eminem used "Dream On" brilliantly), Led Zeppelin's incredible guitar riff in "Kashmir" (once again, Puff Daddy used this in a song he wrote for the "Godzilla" soundtrack), and many others that I cannot recollect at this time.

Onto the messages:

Ok, there is a lot of "death metal" out there, and the singer(?) sounds like he's trying to force out a massive dump. I'll agree with you that the lyrics in these songs aren't exactly "wholesome", but rap has just as many negative messages. I've been to a lot of parties and get-togethers in my time, and I can't tell you how many rap songs revolving around killing this person, ******* this *****, robbing this liquor store, and various other violent activities I've heard. I don't like it, and I don't listen to it....just like I don't listen to death metal. Let's just agree that both types of music have their negative messages and leave it at that.

As far as what rock music is influencing people to do, you're a little behind the times. No one is trying to look like their favorite rock star anymore. That went out with the 80's when the big hair look was the thing to do. If I had to point out an influence that is going on today, I would have to say that it's getting people to get involved with the world. Groups like System of a Down, Pearl Jam, Audioslave, and even Neil Young (don't you if you know these groups) have helped open my eyes to what's going on around me. There are some rap groups I listen to that have also been doing the same. Public Enemy has always been on the front line of the in-your-face political message. Eminem has a powerful song called "Mosh". I'm sure you could give more examples since rap is not really my forte'.

I'll shut up now , but I hope I was able to make a point.

If this has only served to infuriate you to hate rock even more, then I'll say this last thing: Wait another 50 years and see if "Gnarls Barkley" is getting more radio play than "The Beatles". My money is on Lennon, McCartney, Starr, and Harrison.
well i wouldnt quite call rap music. more like poetry with a beat.

and punk rock is da stuff. all rap talks about is money and materialism and stuff like "grillz". punk rock deals with real problems like how 'idiots are taking over" and how people are killed and tortured but people still have the nerve to call it "gods love". punk rock deals with REAL problems going on the world. punk rock doesnt go on about how you have a sexy girlfriend or some sweet braces or how you have billions of dollars.

also punk is actually music. meaning it has chords and melodies and changes in the pitch. instead of the same beat or chords over and over again with some guy talking. all rap really requires is the ability to write poetry. punk rock requires musical skills singing skills and song writing skills.

Im not saying that ALL rock is better than rap. but you cant really generalize rock. there are a bunch of different genders of rock. i dont really like metal. i do lean towards some heavier music though. but i also like bands like the rolling stones or the ramones or lagwagon which are less heavy and more acoustic. some bands do suck though. bands like van halen or blink 182. there is a LOT of rock that is totally ****.

for some good songs check out: i wanna be sedated - ramones, weve had enough - alkaline trio, had enough - frenzal rohmb, **** authority - pennywise, paint it black - rolling stones, where is my mind - pixies, falling apart - lagwagon

i do like a few rap songs. but mostly because they have some melody and chord progressions.

i like DRE by dr dre and a few others.

actually you may be able to tell me something. what is the song on this video? http://www.norco.com/ts/pass/norco06usa/...

I think its a good song and i want to get it. but i dont know what its called and who its by.
Ok... first of all, it seems you're mostly insulting rock because:

A) You don't like it, apparently. Nothing wrong with that, of course.

B) You don't like that "rockers" insult rap. And the fact is, not all do. I'm not a big fan of rap, but I have friends who like it. And yeah, I think some rap music has a bad message, but I'm not gonna lie and say that that's not true for rock as well- and in fact, almost any genre of music.

As to the "weird hair styles, the dying of the hair and piercings and tattoos all over your body"- Those are often done for originality, and to distinguish yourself from the rest of the world, and it's all personal choice. Granted, it might make listeners think it's cool to be pierced and tattooed, but by the time they're old enough to do it, they'll hopefully realize that it should be a slightly more meaningful thing than "My favorite artist has a tattoo of a skull on his a**, I want one too!"

The smoking and the drinking- not so good. But there are rockers who live lifestyles free of these. Straightedge, for instance, is against them.

You can dislike rock, but it is music, and in a lot of cases it has a good influence- for instance, it can bring political problems to the public's attention (just as any form of music can). And I hope you know that by attacking rock this way, you're acting just like the "haters of the ghetto music".
G i always wanted to make a topic on how dat ********* rock muzik shyt iz at least u did it they always hatin on rap muzik and they need to stop dat shyt good goin gurl
I hate it . And I hate rap and hip-hop as well . They should be banned . Honestly , who can call someone screaming swear words or banging on a drum making music ? I prefer singers who can really sing like JoJo , Natasha Beddingfield and Kelly Clarkson .

Why did music get so crappy after the 80's ended?

Although there was still good music just into the early 90's, myself and many others have been wondering why music all of a sudden got so awful all of a sudden. Its like the instrumentation and style of music changed completely overnight. 80's pop, Italodisco, Europop, Eurodisco, Hi-NRG, etc... all seem to have died out, primarily in America. The only decent music since then has been Eurodance, which has basically been a continuation of the Hi-Nrg style that gradually developed throughout the 80's and 90's. I turn on the music and hear absolutely horrid accoustic music by Dave Matthews, Coldplay, and other untalented artists. Also, why did rap get so popular? The music isn't wholesome at all, the lyrics are absolutely awful, and there's no talent put into it. Listening to 80's music actually makes you want to dance, puts you in high spirits, etc. Why did music get so bad all of a sudden? Can't wait for the answers...

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

What's wholesome about disco? All they talk about in disco songs is getting laid or trying to...
I don't think music got worse, I just think its harder to find something that suits you, especially on the radio.

There is plenty of good new music out there if you care to look. I have so many friends that are stuck in the 80s musically and its kinda sad really.

I don't like Dave Matthews, but I can appreciate that some people do. And you can keep your disco, its not my style, but good for you if you like it.

Always Something - by I Hate Kate is a fun new song

give it a try!
Freddie Mercury died.

Maybe it is just because no good bands have risen since? No bands with creativity and flare.
Not necessarily crappy, it's just that it seems that genuine talent and originality is not an issue anymore as it used to be. I personally love the 80's and the majority of my music collection are 80's and prior. I still see quite a few talented artists today but most of them have sampled from or are emulating an earlier artist and is not bringing anything new to the table. Sad...
I liked the music they made under the influence of the old drugs, but these new drugs make them lose their minds!

Yes, I know I just said I like drug induced music but I'm a big Waylon Jennings fan! And we know he was on something! Remember, he got arrested for possession of something he didn't have...

My music d/l usually opens with Yahoo jukebox. But now it mysteriously winds up in a zipped folder.

I download the music, which is set up to automatically go to the 'My Music' folder. I play my music in Yahoo! Jukebox and the logo for the jukebox is usually there along with the name of the songs. But after a little while the music mysteriously winds up in a zipped folder and when I extract the files it tells me the file is corrupted. Does anyone know why this is happening? This has NEVER happened before and I had to get rid of tons of music.

My music d/l usually opens with Yahoo jukebox. But now it mysteriously winds up in a zipped folder. Help!?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

I suppose this depends on where you are d/ling from.

Many P2P's software allows you to pick where your d/l destination is.

I don't know of any that automatically archive files, not to say that it's not possible. It would explain the zip files.

The answer has to be in the program settings of the P2P software that you are using.

Remember: There are always dangers in d/ling, and copywrite and infringement laws.

Stay Safe.

I hope this helps.

Music Video - Latin Pop - who's the artist/name of song of this music video description?

Latin music fans I need your help! One late night a year or so ago I was watching VH1 Uno or one of those Latin Music Video channels and I happened to stubble upon this music video for a female artist. She was relatively young maybe early 20's. The music video consisted of her and a bunch of her friends partying it up inside this baby blue little mini cooper type car and driving up and down these empty streets of what appeared to be Mexico, maybe. When they showed the car driving up the street it was fast forwarded. What really stood out for me though was that through out the music video their were splices of the Mega Man cartoon from the early 90's. The song was pretty poppy from what I could remember, and it was purely a feel good party music video and song. Any help to finding out the art would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

You can add my name. I love the old country but the new stuff leaves me cold.
I think this a GREAT idea! i mentioned this about 6 months ago and we all agreed then...i'm behind you all the way!!!!

there is a difference in COUNTRY and CLASSIC COUNTRY so they both should have their own homes..good going fool 4!
Great!!! And I agree wholly with JeffA's answer...add me...and a lot of today's "new country" ....just ain't country music...period. Thankee Kindly!

Great idea !
sign me up!
We do need the sub-category! I'm with you. Use my name and contact me if need be.

Good Luck!!!

I agree 200%.Classic country is all I listen to.The new stuff is not what I want to hear.

Upsetting/moving classical music for a drama performance?

I am doing a drama exam for my GCSEs and need to find some music that will go inbetween a couple of the scene changes. The music needs to be a sad, slow paced music as the play is meant to be quite upsetting. Does anybody have any ideas as to what music i could use that would be suitable for sad moments/scene changes? (ie somebody gets shot and we need some music that will help to create an upsetting atmosphere),preferably classical music that isnt very well known, thank you

Samuel Barber 'Adagio for Strings' is really moving and makes me cry every time.

Upsetting/moving classical music for a drama performance?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

Does it have to be classical? If not, there's a nice little piece by Brian Eno called An Ending (Ascent) that fits the emotion of your piece perfectly. The only thing is, I think it probably is quite well known because I hear it a lot in films, TV shows etc.

If that wouldn't work, try some of Erik Satie's more mournful piano pieces. Good luck! :-)
'Adagio for Strings' by the American composer Samuel Barber, or Mozart's Requiem are both very moving. You might like Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5
I would take a Look at Benjamin Brittens Nocturnal, it has what you need and is not so well known at all.
Brief extract from Section 16 - 'Crucifixion' by Stainer where darkness falls as Jesus is crucified. There's a very creepy organ pedal passage but it does not last long!

Alternatively, the well known Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor by

J S Bach
Gustav Holst: Invocation For Cello and Orchestra. This is on the Naxos CD label. Also, Holst's Song Of The Night, on The Wandering Scholar CD, Chandos Records.

Both are not well known, and are fairly moving but not actually upsetting.

Another piece is The Swan by Camille Saint Saens. It is a moving gentle peace, and not upsetting.

Try also The Dove, by Ottorino Respighi, from The Birds (Gli Uccelli).

Try also some of the music by Turlough O'Carolan, as he composed a few sad pieces.
"Agnus Dei" from Schubert's Mass No. 2 in G Major; it's very mournful and beautiful. You can hear it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_No._2_...

"Selig sind, die da Leid tragen . . . ", the first movement from Brahms' German Requiem.

The hymn "Eternal Father, Strong to Save" (often remembered for its recurring line of " . . . for those in peril on the sea").

Chopin's Nocturne in C# Minor.

The Adagio movement from Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 in E minor.
I recomend a few things, as I like to be creative I myself would "mix" emotions.

For example this piece "Symphony No.5-Movment IV: Adagietto" by Mahler

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duSL3y2LA...

here it is used in a movie:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTP7XFVGn...

Here is an other, "Requiem-Lacrimosa" by Mozart

the Requiem was Mozart's last work and this movment was his last movment, in this video at 0:55 was his last note ever written as the rest of the Requiem was finished by someone else (he only finished about half of the Requiem). Any way last word about this piece is that a Requiem is a piece written about the dead and usally dedicated to a notable person. In this case its belived it was Mozarts father.

PS if you have a scene where the person is killed or their is a chotic moment use this:

Quartet No. 8- movment II by Shostakovich

Enjoy and good luck!
Toccata and fugue in D minor by Bach

Take a look at this:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=_FXoyr_FyFw
How about Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No. 2, Der Brautraub (The Abduction of the Bride).

Immediately came to my mind after reading what you need.

If you want something REALLY unsettling, try Penderecki's Threnody For The Victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=6dx0TN0I_Io
These pieces by Elgar may do

Sospiri

Elegy

Slow movement 2nd Symphony
Barber's Adagio for Strings.
Try something from faure's requiem - maybe Pie Jesu
I'm a musician, and whilst I would once have suggested the Albinoni Adagio, or the Barber Adagio for Strings, I can't help thinking that the most heart-rending melody is that written by John Williams for the theme of "Schindler's List."

It is almost unbearable, and one of the truly great sad melodies of all time.

If music is poetry, then why is it...?

... some music is criticized for being too poetic. I mean music and lyrics is poetry set to music and such, but why is it critics say an artist is too poetic in their sound (example:Billy Corgan), shouldnt that be a good thing??? Why is some music is criticized for being too poetic when in fact music is poetry set to music??? i mean, not all poetry has to be consistent and rhyming, so what difference does it make if one band is poetic, while anothers music does not make sense??? Does music have to all be mindless pop? what's your opinion on this???

If music is poetry, then why is it...?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

but music isnt JUST poetry set to music. Its beats and sounds and all kinds of noises that make up the song.

Sometimes a song thats too poetic could take away from that fact, and might serve better as a poem on its own.

If music is poetry, then why is it...?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

you know, i never thought of it that way. i just think that our civilization is just soo stupid that they don't uderstand the artistic things in life.
i agree - music should be considered an art form not a commodity

there's a place for cheesy pop - just not in my record collection
Music, like art, theatre and and literature is to be judged

subjectively. And critics have their opinions of what is

pleasing and what is not good, but that does not give them

the final say. Poetry and lyrics as forms of poetry are

created for effect. If you enjoy the music and the poetic

effect of the lyrics, that's all that matters. My opinion is no

more nor less than yours.
Hmm. I never considered music poetry so much as I considered poetry music. I've never actually heard of an artistic whose lyrics are criticized for being too poetic, but that seems kind of absurd to me, now that you mention it. The best songs have very poetic lyrics, like Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," considered by many to be one of the best songs of all time. Actually, a lot of Cohen's work is very poetic (Suzanne being a prime example), and he's considered one of the foremost modern composers. So I really can't understand why anyone would criticize a song for being "too poetic." I suppose I could understand if the band focused on lyrics and had music that didn't match or didn't bring out the right feel, or if they had overly flowery or obtuse lyrics in pretensions to great poetry, but the first is bad music, and the second is bad poetry. Neither music or poetry as a whole should be to blame for its sucky bits. And I know most of my favorite songs are very poetic.

"Hallelujah," by Leonard Cohen (the John Cale version)

"It's All Over Now, Baby Blue," by Bob Dylan (as sung by Joan Baez)

"Sounds of Silence," by Simon %26amp; Garfunkel

"Helplessly Hoping," by CSN

"Until the End of the World," by U2

"At Seventeen," by Janis Ian

"Diamonds and Rust," by Joan Baez

"Daffodil Lament," by the Cranberries
